No pet bunnies, please

In line with the gifting advice provided during Christmas about puppies and kittens and at Easter about pet rabbits...  Please use good judgment when wanting to celebrate this promising occasion.

"Unfortunately, we are living in a consumer-oriented society -- people get tempted easily especially when it's cute and cuddly," she said."

"Rabbits aren't just cute and fluffy, they're high-maintenance animals who require significant resources, equipment, attention and veterinary care."

A warning for Facebook users and the Zodiac sign

Sigh.  I really wish people would use their technical and social networking skills for good.

Zodiac sign survey scam spreading virally on Facebook

by Graham Cluley on January 16, 2011

A scam has spread far and wide across Facebook this weekend, posted on many users' Facebook pages claiming that they have discovered that their zodiac sign has changed.

See the article here:

People can be so gullible and should be better educated about the Internet, email and social networking.  I avoid using Facebook apps and often warn my friends about them.    It's a socially un-private new world...

Year of the Rabbit Postage Stamps

Here's a pleasant and promising diversion aside from my novel progress reports :-)

Do you feel a state of calm coming over you? The Year of the Rabbit is a peaceful year, one that will be far more tranquil than the previous “Tiger” year, and give us the necessary rest to revive ourselves from a time of uncertainty and stress.

That excerpt was taken from the Canada Post page announcing the January 7th release of the stamps for The Year of The Rabbit.  Officially, this year does not begin until February 3, 2011.   I am really looking forward to it.  There's a lot I have to get over from the snarly Tiger year and life changes for this year coming.

As they say "Rabbits '... are survivors—and can deal with anything life throws at them as long as they are at peace with themselves.' "  The next few months will provide me the opportunity to be at peace with myself, to understand myself as I learn to better understand the challenges experienced by my loved ones.  If I need to shift gears or take a different path,  I will take the advice of my friend Alberte in doing my best to continue in good work and make this a better world.

As for postage stamps and the use of snail mail, I'd be interested to hear comments from readers and fellow bloggers on any continued, dedicated use.

Cheers!

The Novel Progress Report January 2011

New Year.  New post.

Over the holidays I invested some time to apply edits and changes suggested by a paid, professional service.  I was contented with most of them and will need to discuss the others before committing to the next level in our relationship. ;-)

I also took time to write the murder scene.  In the first draft, I had only alluded to it in various sections. That didn't work and seemed to cause confusion for my readers.  This time, I got up the courage to write it.  It proved as a form of release, battling demons without getting graphic or gruesome.

The next time I post, I hope it will be to announce the expected publication date and to provide links to e-book sources.  Wish me luck.

I admire the writers / artists who dedicate themselves to post something in their blogs every day.  One artist friend says it encourages the creative process if she posts something on a regular basis.

Having a family and full time day job does not allow me the luxury to be so committed.

Until next time, thanks for reading.  You can also follow my deep blonde thoughts blog posts, tongue-in-cheek reflections on life experiences and life styles.
